Ivo Mechels, born in 1960 in Antwerp, studied law at the KU Leuven and European Administration at the College of Europe. He is well known as the former spokesperson of the Belgian Consumer Organisation, Test-Aankoop. Since 2013, he has been director of the Lobby & Press department of the consumer organisation on an international level. Since February 2016, he is CEO of Euroconsumers, the international umbrella of consumer organisations working together in 5 countries and General Director of Test-Aankoop. Before he started working for Test-Aankoop, he worked at the Belgian Parliament and for the ministry of Defense and of Agriculture. He’ s also a guest lecturer at the University of Ghent and Odissee, author and a devoted father of 2 children. Ivo Mechels, geboren in 1960 in Deurne, studeerde rechten aan de KU Leuven en Europese Administratie aan de College of Europe. Hij is bekend als woordvoerder van de Belgische Vereniging voor Consumentenbescherming, Test-Aankoop. Vanaf 2013 was hij directeur van het departement Lobby en Pers op internationaal niveau. Sinds februari 2016 is hij CEO van Euroconsumers, een internationale koepel van de consumentenorganisatie die actief is in 5 landen en is hij ook Algemeen Directeur van Test-Aankoop. Voor hij bij Test-Aankoop begon, werkte hij onder andere op het ministerie van Landsverdediging en Landbouw. Hij is tevens gastdocent aan de UGent en Odissee, auteur, beheerder bij het Xaveriuscollege en vader van 2 kinderen.
